Chelsea will host Manchester City in their next premier league match on Sunday. Both the teams are level on 26 points but City have two games in hand.
Chelsea’s manager Frank Lampard has come under huge pressure after losing three league games in December against Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Arsenal in December. Apart from poor performances from their big signings, they have failed to show any level of consistency as a team.
On the other hand Man City will miss some of their key players who tested positive for COVID-19.
Lampard is aware of City’s situation as he said in the pre-match press conference, “I am aware of the (Manchester City) situation. At the moment, the game is on. Man City have had problems at their training ground, we’ve had a couple ourselves but not the playing staff.”
“I understand it (playing on) but safety has to be paramount. The fact that I said we have a couple of staff [who tested] positive… they have babies, parents, friends, sisters, brothers and grandparents.” he added.
If City manage to upset the Blues then they will join Liverpool and United in the title race, but if Lampard gets the three points it would be a good start to the New Year for them
