The defending Premier League champions lost their second game in a row at Leicester after an Alisson howler and VAR intervention. The game was poised nicely for Liverpool who had dominated the first half. The game was goalless in the first half.
The scoring opened in the second half when a brilliant flick by Firmino was converted by Salah as Liverpool looked in total control. But a VAR decision went in Leicester’s favor as they equalized through Maddison’s free kick.
Then thanks to a collision between Alisson and Kabak left the ball at Vardy’s feet, who scored in an open goal. The finishing touch was provided by Barnes as Leicester swept aside the defending champions in the last ten minutes of the game. (The final score, Leicester 3-1 Liverpool.)
This is the first time that Liverpool have lost three in a row since Klopp took charge. They now look far from being title challengers.
On the other hand Guardiola’s Man City defeated Tottenham 3-0 at the Etihad. City were put ahead by Rodri’s penalty in the first half and Gundogans’s second half brace saw them put the game to bed. Guardiola not only got the better of his rival Mourinho but his side now top the league table and lead Liverpool by 13 points. (Final score, City 3 – 0 Tottenham)
